CWC is the only national child-specific photolisting program in Canada. It is only available to Canadian residents.
We list photos and background information about some of the children and youth who are waiting for permanent families in Canada. These children and youth are currently in the care of provincial and territorial child welfare agencies across the country. The provinces/territories or their agencies are responsible for sending us the profiles and pictures of children for whom they are trying to recruit permanent families.
The Adoption Council is not an adoption agency. We are providing an information referral service. Our role in this process is to help waiting children and youth find permanent families. We bring waiting children and youth to the attention of Canadians who want to expand their families through adoption or other forms of permanency. We also help social workers find families who are willing to adopt waiting children ... regardless of the physical distance between them.
The decision about which family a child or youth is placed with rests solely with the social workers and agency responsible for that child/ren or youth, in consultation with the social worker or agency with whom the potential family is working. The ACC does not make any decisions about the matching process.
